THAIRAPY Holistic Hair Tips For the winter!

Holistic Hair Tips For the winter!

1. Nourish with oils- Mustard, Almond and Vitamin A + E oils are fab!
• Vitamin A helps seal the cuticle to help with fine hair and breakage
• Spinach extract can help with scalp conditions like oily or irritated skin
• Lavendar oil is great for soothing scalp treatments

2. PREVENT DRY ENDS By using a paddle brush to distribute oils. Brushing also stimulates your circulation which could lead to healthier hair growth.

3. MAINTAIN A HEALTHY SCALP BY LETTING LOOSE By wearing pony tails all the time can cause psoriasis in the area where your scalp isn't getting the oxygen through the hair follicle

4. TELL YOUR STYLIST TO GIVE YOU A STRAIGHT CUT TRIM AND NOT A RAZOR CUT this is because getting your hair trimmed straight across will help carry oxygen to our roots through our strands. This improves hair growth. Trimming with a razor will give your ends a slanted cut which isn't optimal if you are trying to get hair length.

5. USE A NATURAL DEEP MASK ONCE A WEEK This natural remedy hair mask will keep your scalp healthy and hair PROTECTED THIS WINTER!

Hair Mask For Dry Brittle Hair

Mix together in a non metal bowl:

1 spoon of mustard oil

1 spoon of coconut oil

1 spoon of vitamin E oil

1 spoon of vitamin A oil

WARM IT ALL UP UNTIL ALL THE INGREDIENTS ARE PLEASANTLY WARM. Apply a generous amount starting from the ends, then to your roots and scalp.
MASSAGE IT GENTLY AND COVER WITH CLING FILM AND WARM TOWEL FOR 45mins-1hour. Rinse with your favourite shampoo and condition. THE SHINE AND MOISTURE WILL LAST FOR UPTO A WEEK! This is not suitable for very fine hair but is colour and Keratin safe.

HOLISTIC TREATMENT TO REMOVE HAIRSPRAY AND PRODUCT BUILD UP mix 2 tablespoons of baking soda into half a cup of water, massage the mixture into the scalp and ends. Let this work for 15minutes, rinse off and wash as usual.
The treatment can be applied as often as needed or twice a month.

HOLISTIC TREATMENT- SAY BYE BYE TO FRIZZ. Avocados have a protein to fatty acid ratio that does wonders for frizzy hair. Mash the avocado in a bowl and apply to washed hair that has been towel dried. Let it sit for 15minutes. Rinse and style as normal. IF AVOCADOS AREN'T AVAILABLE Try about 1/4 cup of mayonnaise instead. Mayo doesn't have all the proteins and nutrients as avocados, but will help moisturise your hair.

Have Fun :))

Relocating Thairapy - Wedding & Vintage Hair Stylist Becks Simpson moves from Bristol to Cambridgeshire

So, as of the end of March 2015 i depart Bristol. I spent 7 amazing years here, where i built THAIRAPY my freelance hairdressing business.  I concentrated on specialising in bridal, vintage and session hair styling, of which i met and worked with some great people, whom are now life long friends. The reason for my relocation was to follow my heart...try not to pull a funny face, it won't be too soppy! ;) I met my boyfriend through his brother and sister in law, we all became friends, and then after a year of long distance a decision was to be made...I was ready for a new challenge, and his job being quite specialist it was me that moved, and the rest as they say, is history...

I didn't come alone, i brought with me my furry companion that goes by the name of BIG BAD TED, he's my comical tabby cat that i truly believe should have his own show, but don't all cat lovers say that! I also brought my 1956 Airstream trailer Marilyn with me too! This was always on my bucket list.

Sadly in the summer of June 2008 my dear mother passed away, and she left me a small amount of money which enabled me to buy my dream. It was after 4 years that i felt ready to spend it, and spend it wisely, i didn't have enough to buy a home, but i did have enough to buy one with wheels! My mum was ever the secret hippy like me, so i know she would be excited for me to finish turning Marilyn into her shining glory, of which any fabulous lady deserves!

So I will be doing a blog to catalogue my forward movements on this gorgeous vintage airstream,  as well as hopefully helping anyone who is contemplating on relocating or has already done so. I have relocated before, so i am not adverse to the challenges that lie ahead, but this time is different as i haven't relocated my business before!

You can follow me on other social media, not that i'm social media mad (goes against my hippy roots) but i do have these... Twitter/Thairapyfree / FB ThairapyFreelance and Google+ Thairapy and Instagram becksthairapy...have i missed any??!!!

So, the story so far... i'm off to a great start, this started before i left Bristol by doing lots of online research. I googled vintage hair stylists Cambridge to see my competition, then through this i would follow links to people they would know. In one instance i stumbled across Dolly's Vintage Tea Parties, this is a Vintage event styling service. I thought i would send an email as i noticed on the site they offered hen parties packages, so i got in contact saying something along the lines of... Hello, i'm a vintage hairstylist soon to be moving to the area and wondered if you would like a vintage hair stylist to compliment your hen party packages...'

This contact proved not only to be a really a FAB contact, but also a great new friend! She knows the area really well. She is also at the point of growth that i am, so i felt meeting Dolly's Vintage Tea Parties was the right time and place for both of us. We have since done a photoshoot with photographer Liz Greenaulgh and Louise Sanderson of Wild Frost Florist and Cafe, this was held at The lovely Windmill in Swavesey

Next on the list this week...

Meeting up with another local photographer Sarah Brooks to discuss a portfolio shoot and future work.

In the meantime, if i find anything comical BIG BAD TED gets up to i promise to share!!

Thanks for reading my first blog...over and out!! x
