looking for some vintage hair inspiration??

I was just reminiscing on some vintage styled work that i did a few years ago with the talented Award winning celebrity makeup artist Sarah Brock, and the equally talented photographer Rosie Parsons.

I often get asked, is working with long hair or short hair easiest...well, they are both the same to me, but longer hair does give you more options, like in this case in the image below that i did for the styled shoot with Rosie and Sarah.

The model believe it or not, actually had hair half way down her back! When asked to provide a 20s style you could imagine my brain cogs jumped to life!

I decided to curl the hair first in a finger wave effect, then i sectioned it into 2. Pinned up the top half, then backcombed the lower half. I then placed the top half over the lower backcombing (which was now acting as a gripping platform) i rolled and placed the curls individually to a shoulder length, this then created this gorgeous 1920s styled hair design.

Here is another example of the same hair underpinning. This beautiful model who's hair i styled for a Rainbow Club UK Campaign shoot in 2013 for Joyce Jackson Veils. Sarah Brock was the MUA for this shoot also.

I had the pleasure of being asked to team up with some great creatives on this January 2018 shoot. The hair style i chose to create was loose with textures, so i gave the hair movement by placing gathers of hair tied in around a lovely fishtail braid, with fresh flowers inter woven. Hairstylist / Becks Simpson thairapy

This gorgeous setting was provided by Paula Banks, whom with her husband, owns this incredible barn in Harlton, just outside of Cambridge. They host a number of events all year round, ranging from weddings to corporate events and also they open their farm to families for Craft Fairs too. Click and find out what they are up to next  www.themanorbarn.com

www.ruralandurbanevents.co.uk also ran by Paula Banks who also provided the prop hire and styling of the shoot. Winter colours and natural feathers, lace and faux furs were added to created a cosy winter wedding feel.

www.thymelanephotography.co.uk takes full credit for all of these amazing images too, Noemi captured the atmosphere perfectly!

The makeup artist for the day was the talented Emily West www.aurorabridalandeventsmakeup.co.uk she created a strong eye detail with beautifully soft cheek and lip detail, it really compliments the whole look and style of the shoot.

The stunning flowers were arranged and styled by www.larkspurfloraldesign.co.uk

The attention to detail is beautiful, the colours are so vibrant and rich, definitely creating a warm and rustic feel to the set.

This exceptional cake was provided by the talented Jess Baines. One Part Love is a family business so you will often see many of the Baines' and their extended family in the bakery, delivering cakes and out selling at food markets and festivals.

Every one of their bakes has come out of their home kitchen, either passed down from Grandma Anne or Nanna, or worked on by Jess and her mum Sherryll, so you can rest assured a serious amount of love and effort has gone into whatever yummy delights you get from www.onepartlove.co.uk

The beautiful calligraphy and pyrography (wood burnt calligraphy) was designed and created by Dorothy's Workshop. It has a lovely humble feel to the bridal stationary and the personalised wooden bowls make for a truly bespoke keepsake.

LASTLY AND MOST CERTAINLY NOT LEAST...

we couldn't of achieved any of this without some fabulously patient models. Grace and Tibor were great fun to work with and gave us all the relaxed professional style we were all hoping for, thanks again both xx...

until next time :)

thairapy is now available for Cambridge Hen Party Events! Learn the art of Vintage or alternatively we will come to you and style you fabulous ready for a vintage night on the tiles!

Cambridge Hen Party Ideas

We asked our friends at https://www.freedomltd.com/  whom have been hen party planners since 1996, why Cambridge made for a great hen weekend location, and what to do whilst there.

Mike Wood, MD, told us:

If you're looking for cool and sophisticated with a busy social side then Cambridge gets awarded first class honours. And if you're looking for some pampering, shopping and cocktails you won’t be disappointed. History by the shed-load, culture by the boat-load (or should that be punt-load) and beauty by the eye-load

It would be a crime to visit Cambridge and not punt, our customers love to add on afternoon tea and champagne.

So punting is a must what else proves really popular and makes the grade with our Cambridge hen parties?

Well in no particular order Cocktail Making, Themed Dance Parties, Butler Service and of course Vintage Makeovers with thairapy.

THE FIRST EVER PHOTOSHOOT IN AN AIRSTREAM...PROBABLY!!

We have made it into Femme Rebelle Magazine - December 2017 edition, where we have an excellent 8 page feature!

It's with immense pride, that i can now share these amazing images of the first EVER photoshoot in my incredible 1956 Airstream trailer, who goes by the name of Marilyn.

I bought her 4.5 years ago, and its a bitter sweet story in how i came to own her, as she is purchased from inheritance from my late mother. I always choose to acknowledge this, as it's without her, these images and this collaboration couldn't of come together. And so, with this unbelievable sadness, it has brought some amazingly talented people into my life!

Firstly, Simon Carter! Where do i start! He has such a passion for photography and is such a lovely human being, working with him doesn't feel like work! He knows exactly what he likes and nails it every time!  This fashion shoot wasn't normally Simons usual shoot as he is usually snapping away with dancers and performers, so it pushed him out of his comfort zone, but i think you'll agree it's brilliant!

Thank you Simon, you captured it perfectly and did me and my late mamma proud! xx

Marilyn 1 .jpeg

Secondly, Jada Rose - Model. She was ace! I couldn't of asked for a better person for the job :) We wanted to go with a Barbarella theme, and it evolved into what could also be from Close Encounters Of The Third Kind! Just the look we were going for!

Marily 1.jpeg

Thirdly: Kate Fletcher - MUA. Kate loves all things creative, so when i asked her to join me for the shoot, of course she jumped at it! Kate is a great makeup artist, she's been working in TV, Film and lots of other things, including bridal and fashion, so if you need anyone for an event or wedding day makeup look no further!

Marilyn 6.jpeg

Forth: The stylish Hayley! She has the best collection of props and clothes and well, anything really! If you want any styling for an event, be it a wedding, garden party and all in between Hayley is the go to gal! Not only are her props of excellent quality, but she really does go the extra mile, and her attention to detail is on point! So much so, for a friends wedding, who's theme was Out of Africa, she hand painted plastic zoo animals in gold to add to the effect, which was fab!! She's a really honest and down to earth person too, so you can really trust her creativity for any event!

Marilyn 27.jpeg

And lastly but not least, Me :)

You've guessed it, i did the hair styling for the day! We wanted to go with a slightly rock chick edge, so i chose the plait side detail with some textured curls and lots of backcombing, giving it the 60s vibe!

Even my beautiful Cockerpoo Dita Dog got in on the action!!

Issue 13 of The Fabulous Rock n Roll Bride Magazine is Out Now!!

Are you an alternative bride, do you feel there is nothing on the shelves that has what you are looking for?!

Well you obviously haven't stumbled across Rock n Roll Bride Magazine yet then!!

I had the pleasure of working with Kat Williams, founder of the proudly eclectic bridal magazine, Rock n Roll Bride, back in Bristol in 2007.  We did a photoshoot together with the equally talented award winning photographer Rosie Parsons. At that point, Kat was at the start of her journey, and who would of known then, what an amazing inspirational magazine her blog would then become!

I for one, am proud to support her, which is why you will see a familiar logo in yet another Issue, this time, lucky Issue number 13! :)

Happy reading xx

We have a vision of the world where STRONG WOMEN LIVE BOLD and joyful lives. They know what they want and they work for it. They inspire each other. Passion and joy are their best accessories!

LOVED MY 2016 BRIDES! THANKYOU FOR LETTING ME CREATE FOR YOU ALL!

So, it's the end of 2016. In the celebrity world it wasn't the greatest time! I am genuinely saddened by some of the all time greats that bid a final farewell. For some though, 2016 was a time of celebration, and in the same way we celebrate the losses, we must also celebrate the love!

My year of 2016 weddings did by no means let me down in the love celebration department! I would like to share some images of my lovely bride Clare. I had the pleasure of styling her hair in September 2016. She sent these images to me today. It's been lovely looking back at them, i hope you enjoy them too.

Happy New Year everyone, may it bring much love, light, and happiness XX
